What to Present

A year ago I attended a conference of film directors. One of the panelists was Anthony Minghella, director of "Cold Mountain."

When asked what he thought the job of director was, he made one of the more interesting statements of the conference. "When directing a movie based on a book, I feel that a director has the obligation to portray the essential meaning of the book as though he were the last person to read the last copy of the book."
